How to Choose a Tubular Motor?

1. **Determine Core Parameters First: Match Actual Curtain Needs**

This is key to avoiding motors that "cannot pull" or "waste performance." Focus on three core indicators:

   - **Rated Torque:** The heavier the curtains and the longer the track, the higher the torque required.

   - **Motor Length and Tube Diameter:** Common diameters include 25mm, 35mm, and 45mm.

   - **Stroke and Speed:** It is recommended to reserve an extra 10cm of stroke beyond the actual curtain height to avoid insufficient limit settings. Excessively fast speeds can cause curtain sway, while excessively slow speeds affect efficiency.

2. **Evaluate Core Performance: Quietness, Durability, and Safety Are Key**

   - **Noise Level:** Prioritize products with operating noise ≤35 dB (equivalent to soft speaking). For quiet environments like bedrooms or studies, ≤30 dB is recommended. Pay attention to whether the motor uses brushless DC technology and a quiet gearbox.

   - **Material and Protection:** Opt for an aluminum alloy casing for rust and corrosion resistance. For outdoor or humid environments (e.g., balconies), choose motors with an IP54 or higher rating to protect against rain and dust.

   - **Safety Features:** The motor must include an "obstacle detection" function (automatically cutting power upon encountering obstacles) to prevent injuries or motor burnout. A design without external pull cords is safer for households with children or elderly individuals, avoiding entanglement risks.

   - **Lifespan:** Focus on the motor's rated lifespan. Prioritize products with a lifespan of ≥10,000 cycles. Bearings made of stainless steel are more wear-resistant, reducing the likelihood of future malfunctions.

3. **Adapt to Smart Needs: Consider Control Methods and Protocol Compatibility**

   - **Control Methods:** For basic needs, choose remote control. For smart home users, prioritize models supporting "mobile app + voice control" (compatible with Xiao Ai, Tmall Genie, etc.) for convenient scene integration.

   - **Smart Protocols:** To achieve cross-brand connectivity (e.g., integrating with lighting or air conditioning), choose motors supporting MATTER or KNX protocols to avoid compatibility issues when adding smart devices later.

4. **Avoid Pitfalls: Don’t Overlook These Details**

   - **Brand and After-Sales Service:** Choose brands specializing in motor technology. Prioritize products with a warranty of 2 years or more to ensure reliable after-sales support for repairs.

   - **Installation Compatibility:** Confirm whether the motor supports forward and reverse rotation (for single or double-opening curtains) and whether it includes electronic limit switches (for precise positioning of open/close settings). This ensures the motor meets your usage habits after installation.

   - **Energy Efficiency:** Prioritize brushless DC motors with a first-class energy efficiency rating. They save over 60% more energy than AC motors, making them more cost-effective in the long run.
